CNSL Based Derivatives

CNSL and its derivatives have been used as antioxidants, stabilisers and demulsifiers for petroleum products as well as plasticisers and processing aids for rubber compounds and modifiers for plastic materials

CNSL Soluble metal derivatives are used to improve the resistance to oxidation and sludge formation of lubricating oils.

Oxidised CNSL and its derivatives are used as demulsifying agents for water in oil type petroleum emulsions.

Other derivatives of CNSL are used in the preparation of surface-active agents by:
Sulfonation,
Antioxidants, Bactericides, Fungicides and Disinfactant, Insecticides, Pesticides and Herbicides ,Drugs, Dyestuff

Application Characteristics
Paints/coatings
  • Provides weather proof heat and fire resistant and excellent anti corrosive protection
  • Superior properties than those of conventional oils or synthetic resins.
Epoxy resins/ Epoxy hardening
  • Various polyamines synthesized from CNSL are used as curing agent
Plastic
  • Used as modifiers for plastic materials
Cement
  • Used as a cement hardening agent that would be immune to acids and alkalis reactions
Petroleum emulsions
  • Oxidized CNSL and its derivatives are used as demulsifying agents for water in oil type petroleum emulsions
Varnishes
  • Used as flame retardant.Chlorinated CNSL pigmented with sodium silicate, red mud titanium dioxide, mica powder or similar materials are known to be prepared and used by industries as flame retardant varnishes. This flame retardant has to be blended with the surface coating for optimum performance and a self-extinguishable coating will be obtained
Rubber
  • Used as plasticizes and processing aid for rubber compounds to improve tensile strength and abrasion resistance, reduce fatigue, enhance self adhesion and rubber to cord adhesion and contribute to antioxidant and antiozonant activity
Laminating industry
  • Applied for reducing brittleness and improving the flexibility of laminates
Lubricating oils
  • For improvement of the resistance characteristics to oxidation a sludge formation acting as demulsifying agents
